Company Safety Standards

WestCan Projects Ltd. is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment. We have an effective safety program in place to protect our workers, property and the public from incidences or injuries. This is accomplished by ensuring that physical and health hazards are eliminated or mitigated at the work site.

WestCan has safe work procedures in place and ensures that personnel are wearing appropriate personnel protective equipment relevant to their job task at all times. Our site conditions and equipment are continually monitored and maintained to ensure that job hazards are minimized and to alert all personnel working on site of any issues. In addition, WestCan promotes a positive attitude towards safety and health within the organization.

COMPANY REQUIREMENTS

All personnel working on site must be trained and be familiar with site conditions. At a minimum, every employee and subcontractor working on site will have a valid Level 1 First Aid Certificate and WHMIS training. Other certificates such as Confined Spaces Awareness, H2S Alive Training, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Transportation Endorsement will also be current where applicable.

COMPANY AWARENESS & GROWTH

WestCan has a safety board where Safety and Hazard Alerts are posted to inform personnel of any relevant safety information pertaining to a job. This board also includes current WorkSafe BC publications. Currently WestCan is in the process of applying for Safe Certification with the British Columbia Forest Safety Council. This certification involves an external audit of the company safety procedures and policies to ensure that the company is compliant with the council’s safety standards and WorkSafe BC Health and Safety Regulations. This will ensure that the company is operating at a safe level to prevent and mitigate any incidences or injuries at the workplace.
